How to Install Parrot Security OS on VirtualBox for Hacking Training (2020)
Hello guys, This is my 1st post here and i hope i find a solution or help in here. But to me more specific: - I used Parrot a few months ago before update old kernel - i had this system on 1 SSD with Windows 2 systems on one disk - everything worked perfectly, no problems. Sure i think it will solve the problem but i was hoping that maybe i will do something to run newer kernel - maybe my laptop cant handle the kernel and I do not know - i saw that many people have this issue on different distros: Ubuntu, Mint, Kali, Parrot, etc etc - but in my case ive tried almost because i think i didnt try all - solutions.
The most likely issue is that the new installation on the second drive created a EFI system partition on that second drive and it's boot files are in this EFI partition of the second drive. There is also Parrot boot files in the EFI partition of the original first drive where you mention you deleted Parrot and only Windows resides on this drive.
The UEFI firmware interface may still have the entry for the first installation on the first drive, which likely still points to the now non-existing Parrot installation on the first original drive, which is why it can't boot it, it don't exist. If this is the case, there are three possible things you can do: 1: By booting Parrot live, you may be able to use efibootmgr commands to remove the Parrot entry of the first drive and add an entry for the boot files in the EFI partition of the second drive, you would have to dig into this as I don't have it installed and never used it, so not sure if this option is viable.
This way you should be able to highlight the first drive, select the EFI partition of the first drive and direct the installer to use it as the EFI partition. Then you would highlight the second drive and select the the root partition of the second drive telling the installer to install in that partition, same for swap, home, etc. If you have a root prompt, you can omit the "sudo" in these commands. Parrot OS is a derivative of Debian Linux. I have been using Linux Mint since aboutbut over the last couple of years it has been displaying a symptom that I find a little It started with Mint 17 and continued in Mint Until recently, this behavior had me worrying about the security of Mint.
Don't get me wrong. Linux Mint is still a great operating system. That is why I have been looking for something better for so long. The troubling behavior is that Mint freezes randomly at times for anywhere from 30 to 90 seconds. It does this on every computer I have tried it on. Freezing occurs while the CPU is essentially idle and the system monitor is not identifying any unusual activity.
This behavior had me worried, because I thought some virus or other malware may have been causing it. Then, I found a solution that has reduced my fears. Mint should not be exhibiting this behavior. In fact, no operating system should ever shut the user out like this. My intolerance of operating systems that take control away from users is one of the major reasons I refuse to use Windows I hope Parrot OS is more secure than Mint.
Parrot OS is designed for security and penetration testing. Therefore, it stands to reason that it should be fairly secure. In this post, you will learn how to install Parrot Security OS on VirtualBox, using the illustrative screenshots or with the embedded full video tutorial.
